Director of Courses on Mountaineering and/or Skiing (Alpine and ski touring) in Britain, Norway, Austria France and Italy In the Troodos Mountains of Cyprus for the British Forces 1990 Ascent of Mount Kilimanjero, East Africa and ascent of Point Lenana on Mount Kenya. 2000 Organiser Markha Valley Trek/Ascent of Stok Kangri 20,100 ft, Ladakh. Leader of treks throughout the Himalaya, Peruvian Andes and of journeys in Ecuador, Bolivia, South India, Burma, Thailand, Morocco, Jordan, Ethiopia and Madasgascar |
History:

Garhwal Expedition 1953 Reserve Member of the Successful Mount Everest Expedition Nepal 1954 Daily Mail "Snowman" Expedition - Mountaineering Leader of Expedition 1954 Everest To Kangchenjunga First Traverse 1958 Chief Instructor of Plas-y-Brenin 1960 was a Senior member of Sir John Hunt's expedition to North East Greenland, Staunings Alps. A mixed group of mountaineers and scientists but also (and a credit to the expedition) were 18 Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award winners.
1963 Trans-Pindus Expedition, Greece, of which a rather sour in retrospect, John Disley was a member.
Brought about the Mountain Leadership Certificate - MLC and the Mountain Instructors Certificate Ran first Instructors courses - at PYB - 1968 Built the First Cross Country Ski track in Wales - at PYB, the British Biathlon team were some of the first to train & use the track. |
